New WISI IPTV MICRO HEADEND OM 20

Niefern-Öschelbronn, March 31, 2020 – WISI, a leading international technology developer based in Germany, is once again setting new standards for IPTV headends with the launch of the MICRO HEADEND OM 20 064S. This innovative, new IPTV solution is a compact and flexible platform that generates up to 128 SPTS services from six satellite transponders. The SPTS outputs can then be fed directly into an IP network and received by IPTV-capable end devices. By supporting the DVB-S/S2 and the latest DVB-S2X standards, WISI’s latest compact headend is perfectly suited for the implementation of new, future-proof IPTV networks or the extension of existing IPTV systems.

The MICRO HEADEND OM 20 064S has four integrated Common Interface (CI) slots for the centralized decryption of Pay-TV content. Operators can easily generate a multiplex from different satellite transponders before the slots and decrypt it using a single smartcard. This makes the usage of professional conditional access modules (CAMs) significantly more efficient.

Another notable option for hotels in particular is the operation of customized in-house information channels for guests. Video content can be fed in as transport streams via USB interface or LAN access and delivered seamlessly as part of the TV channel line-up within the IPTV distribution network. The operator no longer needs a modulator and an external video source such as a PC or laptop to maintain information channels.

To simplify the initial operation of TV devices connected to the IPTV system, M3U tables are automatically generated and stored on the OM 20 064S. Compatible TV devices access this M3U table and store the channels accordingly. This eliminates the need for time-intensive TV channel searches. An integrated Session Announcement Protocol (SAP) supports the automatic update of the channel lists for connected SAP compatible end devices when changes have been made in the central IPTV processing unit.

The integrated 4 in 6 switch matrix reduces installation effort. Additionally, DiSEqC 1.0 increases the flexibility by controlling up to four different satellites. Freely selectable IP addresses can be adjusted at the output. The compact headend also has an integrated DHCP-Server that enables an automatic connection to the PC and an access to smartphones and tablets via Bluetooth. The MICRO HEADEND OM 20 064S is managed using an intuitive web interface compatibly with modern web browsers.

WISI is proud to serve hospitality networks such as hotels, hospitals and multi-dwelling units (MDUs). The new MICRO HEADEND OM 20 064S helps operators successfully launch new IPTV deployments or expand existing services in these networks.
