Vancouver, CANADA, July 14th, 2022 – WISI, a global leader in carrier-grade video technologies, has announced the launch of two new encoder modules for the Tangram Video Platform. The new GT35 HDMI and GT36 SDI/AV encoder modules allow operators to easily add local content to TV line-ups at hospitality and edge locations, without requiring additional equipment.

WISI’s Tangram is a modular, flexible solution, best suited for IP video delivery to hospitality and enterprise sites to help enable network upgrades and bandwidth optimization. At the edge location, the Tangram converts IP streams to QAM or Analog, with optional decryption and re-encryption, to meet site requirements and maintain existing infrastructure.

With the new encoder modules, operators can easily insert local content, such as hotel information channels, security footage and PEG channels, within the same platform to simplify management and ongoing maintenance. This expansion to the globally deployed, carrier-grade product further expands the variety of capabilities a video operator can enable in one single chassis.

“The new HDMI and SDI encoder modules introduce another way for operators to reduce capital spend and operational costs, while condensing the amount of video equipment,” said Sharen Sandhu, VP of Product at WISI America. “We are helping a number of operators with QAM spectrum reclamation projects, where video is migrated to use IP delivery. With the new modules, it’s now possible to add site specific programming in the same unit that is also converting IP streams to QAM or Analog. For video operators, this means less equipment to purchase and manage which greatly improves operational efficiency.”

The Tangram seamlessly integrates into existing video workflows and replaces costly equipment, enabling large savings in rack space, power, and cooling costs. It can process IP, SRT, QAM, Analog, ASI or SDI video formats. Additional features include BISS, AES or Verimatrix bulk decryption, BISS, Pro:Idiom or Samsung LYNK encryption, and demux/remux.

The GT36 SDI/AV Encoder Module is available now and the GT35 HDMI Encoder Module is available in fall 2022.
